NYC was a blast. Thursday was the gig. We arrived early so had plenty of stress-free time to set up. Then we (Jason (sax) and I) played for 4 hours and we got lots of compliments. Friday is when Emily (my bride) and I did everything: Went to Ground Zero ... cried and prayed. Then the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors (www.CoSM.org) and had a truly spiritual experience with the mystical paintings -- a *must see*. Visited Spirit New York, a conscious-dance club, and made a connection with the owner. (He's creating 7 of them, Spirit Dublin was the 1st.) Spent time in Central Park / Christo's Gates Thu and Fri. Loved Times Square, mouths agape. All-in-all it was just wonderful!
THE STAR THROWER, by Loren Eiseley
One day a man was walking along the beach
when he noticed a figure in the distance.
As he got closer, he realized the figure was that of a boy
picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, "What are you doing?"
The youth replied, "Throwing starfish in the ocean.
The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them in, they'll die."
"Son," the man said, "don't you realize there are miles and miles of beach
and hundreds of starfish? You can't possibly make a difference!"
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish,
and threw it into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said,
"I made a difference for that one."
